The 2025 Met Gala unfolded as a powerful celebration of culture, identity, and style, centred around the exhibition theme Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. Inspired by Monica Miller’s seminal book Slaves to Fashion, the exhibition spotlighted the artistry and politics of Black dandyism—where self-fashioning becomes a form of pride and storytelling. This year’s red carpet reflected that spirit with an array of expressive silhouettes, rich tailoring, and some personal and cultural symbolism. From regal tributes to reimagined classics, the night honoured the legacy of this year's theme with undeniable flair. Red carpet legends and first-timers alike made the gala event a night to remember with bold interpretations and couture craftsmanship.

Of course, the Kardashians and Jenners came, ate and left no crumbs on the 2025 Met Gala red carpet. Kylie Jenner was escorted by Ferragamo designer Maximilian Davis, who dressed her in a herringbone halter-neck dress featuring irregular beading detail across the bodice and skirt. The sheer corset bodice embraced the lower waist skirt, cut with a thigh-high slit. She stepped onto the carpet wearing a black silk stole wrapped around her opera-gloved arm with a cascading trail. The detachable stole was embellished with a rose brooch. 

Kim climbed the stairs of the prestigious Metropolitan Museum of Art in a curve-enhancing blackleather dressin crocodile skin texture by Chrome Hearts and a matching black hat to reckon with the theme of “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” and the dress code "Tailored for You." She stacked a slew of diamond necklaces by Moussaieff, dripping down her torso along with glimmering earrings to complement the look. 

With 10 internet-breaking Met Gala appearances under her belt, Kendall Jenner's clever androgynous take on the 2025 Met Gala theme was interpreted with a peplum flare blazer featuring a plunging neckline, accented with a statement necklace. Global sensation Diljit Dosanjh celebrated his Punjabi culture and heritage inspired by the Indian dandy, The Maharaja of Patiala who was known to blend regal tradition with European influences. Prabal Gurung designed an opulent sherwani ensemble bedecked with celestial motifs and regional letters. Gigi Hadid graced the Met Gala in a stunning Miu Miu creation that paid homage to the legendary Joséphine Baker. The look was inspired by a dress originally envisioned by iconic costume designer Zelda Wynn Valdes, who dressed Baker during her celebrated performances in France. Channelling the spirit of old Hollywood glamour with a modern edge, Hadid’s ensemble was both a sartorial tribute and a celebration of Black fashion history.

Dua Lipa has become a Met Gala mainstay, known for embracing the theme with fashion-forward precision and flair. From her 2019 psychedelic Versace moment to the archival Chanel couture gown honouring Karl Lagerfeld in 2023, she consistently delivers drama and class. In 2024, Lipa stunned in a boudoir-inspired Chanel ensemble featuring a custom chiffon dress with an open back, a sequin tweed jacket, and an organza cape—each piece lavishly embellished with crystals, pearls, and feathers. The look, crafted over 2,000 hours with 45,000 embroidered elements, was a masterclass in couture storytelling and craftsmanship.

The classic white shirt made it to the Met, thanks to Hollywood icon Anne Hathaway. Styled by Erin Walsh, the actress chose an ensemble featuring a white anti-fit button-down shirt paired with a sequin-clad striped skirt designed by Wed Gornon for Carolina Herrera.
